An Explosion of Emotions

 An Explosion of Emotions

The births of my children were two very different experiences. Both were dramatic. The first time I was in labour for 20 hours, culminating in an exhausting natural delivery, despite the numbing effect of the epidural. The second was frighteningly quick and started with gusto when I was on my own. Luckily an old GP neighbour (who hadn't delivered a baby for 15 years!) arrived and was able to unwind the cord from around Tom's neck.

My artwork shows my heart bursting with emotions- love, pride and wonder- as the babies arrived. Also the physical feelings of pain, exhaustion and relief experienced during their births.

The stars represent explosions and fireworks to reflect the dates of their births: Jessie arrived as Operation Desert Storm ignited and Tom is a Bonfire Night chap! (With an early miscarriage making up the trio).
