Blanket Comforts

 Blanket Comforts

During my labour with my first son, my sister had been knitting a blanket for 'the baby', which my mother continued to knit while I was labouring, it got finished soon after the birth and now is a much loved sofa blanket - an even greater comfort since my mother passed away last year. I also included a syringe as I needed a little bit of help during my first labour - so Oxytocin played a role in that, and then I needed some antibiotics during my second labour and I have a teeny scar on my right wrist which I'm pretty sure marks the spot where both needles went in. After my second son was born, when the midwives/nurses checked me out and found I was 'intact' - they looked at me and said 'Wow! You can come again’. Lastly, I have included a little heart - this is to represent the huge amount of love I am lucky to have around me and my family, but also to represent the difficulty I have had learning to love myself as a mother.
